Mike Mason is one of those kids who can’t picture his life without dirtbikes. As an 11 year-old kid his dad, who rides himself, got him a bike and Mike hasn’t been able to stop riding since.
The 28-year-old from Nevada is a machine in motocross and slowly developing into a freeriding legend. After a couple of years on the Arenacross circuit, Mason decided in 2004 to quit racing and to focus on his FMX and freeriding skills with his buddy Dustin Miller, who already had his own large FMX park featuring a foampit. Visiting the nearby FMX park of his friend for practice was much more chilled out than travelling long distances to the next MX/SX track and Mike’s skills improved so fast that he finished third overall on the AST Dew Tour as well as winning a bronze medal at the X-Games in 2005.
In the years that followed Mason demonstrated that he is no one-hit-wonder as he rode pretty much every event there is, almost always finishing among the top five. His freeriding parts in the “On The Pipe” movie series are on a par with Renner’s, Parson’s and Miller’s sections in the movie and clearly demonstrate his bike skills and MX roots. Mikes mission is to become the best FMX rider out there and get a hot chick.
Mike’s newest hobbies include drinking a lot of Coors Light and whooping everyone’s ass at Speed and Style in X-Games.
